Meet Jordan
In this edition of Side Hustle Spotlight, we’re featuring Jordan Lewallen — a full-time professional at a Fortune 500 financial company who lives in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Like many people looking to make progress on financial goals, Jordan wanted a way to boost his savings and margin without relying on unpredictable investments or get-rich-quick ideas. So, instead of waiting for the “perfect passive income stream,” he decided to create value the old-fashioned way — through effort, skill, and service.
Jordan’s business, Lewallen’s Luxury Detail, serves the Triad area from Winston-Salem to Burlington, NC, helping people restore their vehicles to like-new condition and rediscover pride in their ride.

The Idea
Jordan realized that most car washes only touch the surface — literally. Customers were paying for quick cleans but rarely getting real results. He saw an opportunity to offer deeper, more detailed care at a fair price.
For $150, clients receive a full interior and exterior detail, including:
- Thorough vacuuming (no pet hair left behind)
- Door jam cleaning and trash removal
- Wheel detailing and tire shine
- Light stain removal and leather conditioning
- Careful wipe-down of all interior surfaces
“People find gift cards and all kinds of things they’ve lost in their car,” Jordan says. “It’s satisfying to help someone feel good about their vehicle again.”
While competitors charge double for high-end coatings or waxing, Jordan focuses on simple, honest detailing that gets the job done — the kind of quality work people come back for.

The First Steps
Jordan officially launched Lewallen’s Luxury Detail in February 2025. At first, he expected a few weekend clients here and there. But within months, his calendar was filling up with texts and referrals.
Equipped with an air compressor for tight spaces and a drill brush for deep-cleaning floor mats, Jordan developed an efficient process that produces dealership-quality results without the dealership price tag.
Building Momentum
Many small businesses fade after the initial excitement, but Jordan’s grew through one thing: reputation.
Satisfied customers kept sharing his name, and word-of-mouth referrals became his best form of marketing. He quickly learned that preparation, communication, and consistency mattered more than flashy ads or fancy tools.
Lessons learned:
- Stay stocked. Keep extra cleaning supplies on hand for last-minute jobs.
- Be transparent. Clear expectations lead to happy repeat customers.
- Keep showing up. Reliability builds relationships — and those create income.
Results That Build Margin
Each detail job takes about four hours, though experience has already helped Jordan shave that down to three and a half. What began as an experiment for extra income turned into a dependable second stream that helps him pay down debt, save more, and strengthen his financial margin.
“Ever since I was a kid, I’ve enjoyed taking care of cars and anything with a motor,” Jordan says. “At first, I thought I’d stop once I reached a certain goal — but now it’s become part of how I stay financially and personally balanced.”
Beyond the financial benefit, Jordan says the work itself is refreshing: “It gets me outside, lets me meet new people, and gives me a sense of accomplishment you don’t always get behind a desk.”
“Everyone’s chasing easy money,” Jordan adds. “But peace of mind isn’t passive. Sometimes, the best way to get ahead is to find a need and do the work.”
The Financial Takeaway
Jordan’s story challenges the myth that progress has to be passive.
In a world obsessed with shortcuts — from crypto bets to low-yield side apps — his approach is refreshingly grounded. He found a practical service people need, delivered it well, and built real income one weekend at a time.
He didn’t just create a side gig.
He created margin.
If you’re working toward debt freedom, savings goals, or simply breathing room in your budget, take a page from Jordan’s playbook:
Focus less on “easy” income and more on meaningful income — the kind that grows your skills, confidence, and financial stability at the same time.
You don’t need to invent something new or quit your job. You just need to start where you are, meet a real need, and let your work speak for itself.
Jordan’s Advice for Others
“Find where your interests and income potential overlap. Start small, do good work, and keep improving. You’ll be surprised how far consistency and care can take you.”
